On a lighter note

When all the hullabaloo is on regarding notes, I could note help adding my bit to it, not on the same topic but on a different experience I had a couple of days back.

Yes I have about ten 500r notes and 1 of 1000, besides that I have no tension . But some more 500r notes came to me from our watchman who had borrowed a sum of 5k about a year ago saying he wanted some money to build his house in his village .

I gave him the money and made a mental note to not take it back when and if he returns the amount .  As I am aware of their measly salaries and how they earn some extra bucks by washing vehicles. Also he has been in the society since forever . He has become old here.  So I was happy I could contribute .

Some known people informed that he had borrowed from many people , which I felt was very smart as asking one person for 50k would surely have got a response of "no". I was happy he had used his intelligence .

However the watchman kept reminding me that he would return and every time I told him he can keep the money and I do not want it back.

Again prior to Diwali he reminded that in a couple of months he shall return . I again told him don't give me back distribute it among your other colleagues for Diwali. I did give separate Diwali to all the colleagues,  the other watchmen in the society .

Promptly on Monday evening he came and told me he had not collected his dues for Washing the vehicle for two three months and here is the balance I owe you. I again told him to keep it,  he pushed the money in my hand and said "no Maam thank you, u helped when I needed it" .  My house is ready.  I took the money and that is how some more 500s got added to the lot I had.

We always have the tendency to assume that these people are not honest or they will not return , even when something is missing in the house , the first suspect is the maid, if there is a theft or a robbery , the first suspect is the watchman .

Hats off to these people who earn what we spent at one go for shopping groceries . Salute to their loyalty and honesty. This may be a lighter note for some, but for me it is a heavy feeling full of respect and love.

They need respect and love and not our riches.

Each and every people have a problem in particular context. But society define problem by profession. Honest person screwed because of one and more dishonest people.

It's true that honesty is more commonly seen in the deprived than in the affluent.... They are purer...we become judgemental and biased ...

Our thinking is the fruit of what was sowed by our parents. People who have seen their elders distrusting the strata will continue to do so and the chain goes on.....
