Moral of the story

Friday happened to be a hectic day for me as despite waking up with a migraine , I decided to continue with my days work.  A couple of painkillers and some extra rest put me on my feet in the afternoon when I met a parent who had come all the way from goregaon to consult me for her gifted child age 5. It was a pleasure to revive the memories of the gifted children program and as if the universe was telling me that revive the gifted child program once again.

I had a wonderful time with her and felt as if I was seeing myself 25 years ago.

So with a happy mindset I set out to meet my class mate who had come from Israel and we were gonna meet after 38 years. There were other class mates as well who were gonna meet up at Marine Drive. Marine Drive as a meeting place itself is very therapeutic . The sea breeze has medicinal effect, the people walking their pets add to the happiness and the latest is everyone trying to capture happy moments in their selfies .

I called for an Uber,  my most favorite mode of transport . I reached the car and found the driver was missing so I went ahead to pick up some biscuits to eat on the way as I was hungry.  Soon I saw the driver arriving and we started our journey .

Now the number of stories I have of all the drivers would actually turn into a very interesting book call "on the road" and maybe I shall do it someday . But today was special . I asked him if he had also gone to fetch something to eat. To which he said no he had gone to the loo. He added that he had had a cup of tea and some busicuits already when he got my call.

We set off and I found that I had to guide him despite the Google maps being on. He said he was in Mumbai driving a taxi since just three days. So I asked him where he hailed from. He replied from UP . But he said he hated this Mumbai driving and was doing it only because his friend had asked him would he do this, and went ahead and bought a taxi as he had said yes. Now he confessed that he had been driving trucks and was a very happy man. Had a happy life which was free of traffics and eccentric customers.

I told him , he must follow his heart and speak to the owner and tell him the truth . Just as we were conversing, the employer whose truck he was driving called to ask where he was,  and he replied he was at home and not well.  Then he went on to tell me that he had finished his last trip,  parked the truck and started driving this cab. Now he said" I m in a fix". So I asked him was the money good with the truck owner,  to which he replied, not good, but lot of extra income by cheating which the owner encouraged . I asked innocently , what cheating,  so he explained you know selling off some consignment , some little theft here and there. So I said, but that is theft, u are gathering bad karma by stealing . To which he replied what is theft in that,  even our gods stole for their stomach . I asked in bewilderment , which God. He replied Lord Krishna stole makhan for his stomach. I was speechless . My husband says very rarely I m speechless .  But here I was speechless . U may derive the moral of this story.

No crime, is justifiable! Its a pity that people continue to do wrong under the shield of religion
