Here and Now
I wanted to write about children today, however let me begin by thanking you all readers for reading my little little life experiences and expressions. I have received such warm and kind words of encouragement from you all. Also I m very grateful that you are also sharing the blog with your contacts and friends.
A response like" Maam this has come to me just at the right time when I needed it most " encouraged me to request you to share with as many people as u can. We never know who will, somewhere, in what staff mind, find some answer or solace. So keep sharing . This would be definitely a good valuable share .
Now today's topic
The Power of Now is a beautiful book by Eckhart Tolle , which I have with me since the last 15 years along with a small book called practicing the power of now. It has given me a good guideline to let the past go, let the future be, however remain in the present . The here and now . It taught me to bring my awareness to what I was thinking , feeling and acting now. It taught me the true meaning of consciousness. For example, If we r looking at a flower and instead of being totally immersed in its beauty, we start thinking of how this flower could have been more beautiful , then we r missing on the fact that the flower is here with its existing beauty . If we r having tea in the morning and not enjoying the flavor , but thinking of how many appointments we have today or what tasks are to be done, then we r very far away from here and now.
In due course of time, I learnt this is vipassana , mindfulness , meditation . Earlier I would beat myself up for not calling up the maid to inform her regarding certain tasks while I was at work. As at work I would be completely immersed in work and forget I had a house , family children or any things to be done, I would recollect it all only when I would be traveling back home and then would have to do everything myself which the maid could have kept ready. Now I understand and accept that this is being totally immersed in what u r doing, whether work or cooking or reading or gardening, I am now reaching a state of mindfulness. By the way men practice mindfulness while at work and even when with families as a natural process. Men may not be good at multitasking, but they have higher coping mechanisms as they are engrossed in what they do and therefore practicing mindfulness unconsciously.
Therefore , my observation is that though everyone needs to achieve the power of being here and now, women definitely must not delay at all.
All the Meditations finally want you be in the present, in the moment, let go the past and not worry about the future .
One can start with small small acts, be conscious and immersed and enjoy it as if savoring it totally . Might sound funny but have u seen when people get ready to eat panipuri , this is one time no one is talking while eating , but completely enjoying and relishing every drop and bit of ingredient . Most enjoyable things become when we can savor every moment, get immersed like an intoxicating song, and feel blessed as if basking in the warm rays of sunshine .
Welcome to the world that is meant to be. This is what the world was made for, to savor, relish, bask, relax, evolve. Welcome to the world of here and now.
With magical love
