Interesting Advertisement

Watching TV is not something I would do by choice very often. However if the TV is on and I happen to be in the drawing room, then I would just sit for sometime and watch, or even get interested and see the entire program. Recently I was watching a small show with my son and I happened to focus on the advertisement of wherein a young man is confronted by his parents as to why should their daughter in law continue to go out and work, when he has got a promotion. The daughter in law freezes in her footsteps right at the edge of the door she was about to enter with the dinner dish. She hears her husband replying in a very firm and calm manner to his parents. Mom, Dad, she is working because she like to work and not for money. The daughter in law smiles and remembers that she had mentioned this on one of the chats to the man she was going to marry that she wishes to continue to work even after marriage. The advertisement is of Bharat Matrimony. What struck me here is the depiction of r...

The local train and the plethora of emotions

I consider myself as the most blessed person on this earth and am truly grateful for that as well. Yesterday being a Sunday, Anmol, my son, suggested we take a trip to Gateway of India and thenthe legendary   Leopold Cafe. Leopold became world famous after many people were killed when terrorist attacked the Taj. Being a Sunday and having no car at our disposal, we decided to take a train to CST. Anmol was a little skeptical as I have not travelled in the local for a few years now. However I was excited to get back into it. As we got into the train, my first reaction was, nothing has changed, why don't we have AC trains yet and why is it still as dirty as it was. Well I tried to look at the good things diverting  my mind that it will take us in just 50 minutes. While going the journey was smooth as there was not much rush and I looked around the number of advertisements on the sides were the same and it is amazing that adds from courses to increasing your penis size is ...

Understanding Emotional Intelligence

The name Daniel Goleman has been associated with Emotional Intelligence and Emotional Quotient now since two decades. It has been very aptly explained that human brain has a seat for feeling, expereincing and expressing emotions. The intensity of it varies from one to another and a large factor is the again the conditioning effect. Let me make this a little simpler. Crying is a form of expressing sadness, deep hurt, and at times even happiness, which means the experience of being overwhelmed by what you see, hear, feel, taste and smell can lead to crying. Even slicing of onion leads to crying, now that is through one of the senses that is the olfactory channel. But here there are no emotions felt. It is the feeling of discomfort.  However crying by an large in children is through the responses and the conditioning that the parents and the environment does. Watch a little child closely who falls down while playing. Immediately he looks up first to whoever is around. If n...

Emotional Intelligence

Hi, I am glad I am back after a hiatus. However I plan to post daily as I feel that the last era of my life, I must establish myself as a writer. There is so much everyday that moves me, makes me think, makes me want to write, leave all the experience and thoughts behind. Just the other day, I joined my son for a sci fi movie and it centered around the time when man will easily travel to other planets and galaxies. What concerned me the most from the movie was that the destroying, the killing, the ruling, eliminating the enemy factor does not leave the imagination of a human mind. What also worried me was that the emotional intelligence was so poor that I doubt man would make any progress towards mankind, but will definitely make a lot of progress with mind. The topic emotional intelligence is always on the top of my mind and if as parents, as society, as educationists, we would concentrate on the emotional intelligence development more, then I think we would conquer the entire ...
