Combatting violence

Since a couple of days, rather since I watched the movie The Accountant,   I m having difficulty when I close my eyes.  I see violent images and then I try the power of shifting thoughts to positive events which I want in my life to happen. The afternoon short naps are very dear to me and though I gave the opportunity,  I have been unable to catch those 20 winks. Violence has always bothered me like it does to most of the population and since a couple of years I have been avoiding watching it on television and have stopped reading newspapers . I am hopeful that most of us will take to mediation and create a generation which does not resort to violence for little or big things. However deep down I am also aware that this is not possible as our DNA system is designed to survive and the fight and flight is the basis of this computer programming called humans. Teenagers and Lockdown

TEENAGERS AND LOCKDOWN When my earlier posts reached across, many parents wrote to me asking for some guidelines to handle teenagers especially when the lockdown got extended. The very two words do not go together that is teenage and lockdown in other words curfew. The word curfew for a teenager is associated with punishment and their brain would take a while to accept that this is for containment and not punishment. No doubt it is a challenge for the parents to first deal with their own schedules and the great challenges emerged out of this lockdown and this can have a double whammy  if there is or are teenagers who are experiencing frustration as well. It is a well known and researched conclusion that our frustrations come out on our lives ones and in the cas of the teenagers it is their parents. Neighbour

 Love Thy Neighbor as you Love Yourself Over the last two decades I had missed the pleasure of having a neighbor.  I was living with fond memories of childhood when we had a small house but generous, caring and kind neighbors. My mother would leave us three children very comfortably with the neighbors watching us. She would go for shopping, functions, doctor visits and she had nothing to worry about. Every day we exchanged food and every evening we would chat together as the distance between the two houses or the next door house was hardly 5 feet.  I only have good and happy memories as I have eaten maximum Cadbury chocolates during this period. Our neighbor on the left were just a father and son and both went to work at different timing. This was in my favor as both bought me a chocolate. The neighbors opposite were like an extended family. We would play endless games of carom board together and had many amazing kulfi evenings.  We went for movies together, we praye...
